Maxim Penkin

Before joining Renaissance I worked for the big four accountancy and consultancy firms for two-and-a-half years. I was involved in consulting projects related to corporate restructuring, change management, project office, and KPIs (key performance indicators).

As a part of Renaissance Partners (the private equity and principal investment arm of Renaissance) I’m involved in creating and reviewing strategy for portfolio companies as well as day-to-day value creation (executive search, KPIs, etc). I’m also involved in selecting new opportunities, whether companies or markets.

I was attracted to Renaissance because I wanted to change my career development towards more aggressive, long-term growth. I also wanted new challenges.

During my first interview I was really impressed by Renaissance people and my motivation increased during my subsequent interviews

The thing that really sets Renaissance apart is that once you’ve passed all the tests and selection processes your expectations about the job are 100% realistic. That’s because, after five to seven interviews, you’ll know how the business works, what your role and responsibilities will be, and what kind of people you’ll work with. Overall you feel much more comfortable.

You always feel a key asset at Renaissance. You face challenging and hard tasks sometimes but you get a lot of pleasure and praise when you solve a problem. It’s never boring and plain.

Here, you really need to be structured in terms of thinking and prioritising things. You also need to be open-minded, and growth-oriented in terms of both your personal and your professional life. You need to be a highly motivated team player.
